Couples counselling is a good idea if you want to improve communication, reduce friction, re-establish love, or gain clarity about your relationship
– When you feel disconnected from your partner for long periods of time
– When it’s difficult to talk to each other or conversations are stuck
– When you’re unsure if you should stay together
– When you’ve decided to split up and want help to do it in the best possible way for your children
– When bringing new families with children together
– If you are experiencing sexual problems
– If there is a serious illness in the family
In therapy, you will experience:
– Understand yourself and your surroundings in new ways and see issues from a different angle
– See new ways of acting and gain energy and vigour to change situations that have previously been difficult
– Become aware of your thoughts and feelings and learn how to understand and navigate them
– Gain insight and acceptance of the things you can’t change
– Courage to act on what you really want to achieve
Whether we’re working with stress, anxiety, depression, or other issues, we always start with the situation you’re in right now. Together we try to find opportunities and openings to do something new and more appropriate. And thereby move you forward in life. One step at a time.
I was originally trained as a psychodynamic counsellor, parterapeut, where the focal point, very simply put, is the understanding of the inner life and how it is expressed in relationships with others. Psychodynamics deals with unconscious processes, the inner life and life between people.
Later on, I have trained in existential psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. The existential perspective works really well when we are occasionally hit by life’s conditions – for example, illness, old age or life crises. Through cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, I have incorporated a more bodily and practice-oriented perspective into my work.
I therefore always include body and mind in my counselling sessions. Heart and brain. That works very well.
